Podgorica, (MINA) - The current Government will complete its term and will make significant progress on Montenegro’s EU path, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Becic said, adding that he does not see anything spectacular in the fact that some MPs were absent during the vote on the dismissal of Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić.
“I don’t think there is anything particularly spectacular in that, considering that we heard explanations from our colleagues”, said Becic when asked by the press about possible disagreements within the Government following the vote on Mandic’s dismissal and the agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He told the press following the launch of the national environmental protection campaign “Čuvaj da te čuva” that such absence of members of the parliamentary majority during a vote have occurred before and that there is nothing spectacular in that.
Becic added that in the previous year and a half, the Government have achieved great accomplishments in the fields of European integration, economic and social empowerment of citizens and, what he described as stronger than ever fight against organized crime and corruption.
He said that the focus should remain on what truly matters and what unites the entire society.
“And that is continuing to meet the standards, closing negotiating chapters, accelerating our European path, fighting against organized crime and corruption and, wherever possible, economically and socially empowering the citizen, and thereby strengthening both citizen and the institutions”, said Becic.
He also called for mutual respect among top officials, “because each of us has taken responsibility for a specific area”.
