Becic: Fight against organized crime requires modern and effective normative framework

Podgorica, (MINA) - The fight against organized crime requires not only strong institutions, but also a modern and efficient normative framework, that is why priorities include improvement of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Criminal Code and the updating of the Law on Confiscation of Criminal Assets, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Becic said.

According to the press release from his office, Becic met with Slovenia’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Anzej Franges, who is visiting Montenegro.

It is stated that Becic pointed out that Montenegro appreciates Slovenia’s continued strong support for its European path and that the partnership and open dialogue further strengthen reform dynamics and stability of the region.

Speaking about the European integration process, Becic said that the focus of institutions is fully directed towards meeting the requirements of the negotiation process and that the European agenda remains the central priority of the executive branch.

“I am encouraged by the historic news that arrived from Brussels, regarding the beginning of drafting of the Accession Treaty, for which we are immensely grateful to our traditional ally, Slovenia”, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Franges said that, despite remaining challenges, Montenegro is making excellent progress on the European path and shows a clear commitment to the European agenda.

It is stated that the interlocutors agreed that the continuation of reforms and preservation of political stability are key to Montenegro’s further progress, with a shared assessment that the European perspective remains the most important framework for long-term stability and development of the region.
