Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Economic Development has prepared a Bill amending the Law on Protection of Competition to further improve the regulatory framework in this area and ensure full alignment with the EU acquis.
The Ministry said in a press release that the proposed amendments mark an important step in the European integration process and confirm Montenegro’s readiness to fully harmonize competition protection rules with the standards applicable in the EU Single Market.
“In this way, a more transparent business environment is being created, in line with the best practices of EU Member States,” the statement said.
The Ministry explained that one of the key novelties relates to strengthening the institutional and operational capacity of the Agency for Protection of Competition, which will be granted greater competencies regarding investigations, evidence collection, and decision-making in proceedings to determine competition infringements.
