Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Milica Adzic, Montenegro is entering a new phase of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), aiming to combine strong investment momentum with reforms that strengthen institutional resilience and fiscal sustainability.
“Our goal is for every project to contribute not only to infrastructure, but also to the long-term transformation of the economy in line with the EU path,” Adzic said at a meeting with a delegation of advisers to the EBRD Board of Directors, who are on an official visit to Montenegro.
The visit was organized as part of the EBRD’s regular practice of having Board advisers periodically visit countries where the Bank operates, with the aim of assessing progress in transition processes, gaining direct insight into the results of implemented projects, and strengthening cooperation with representatives of the public and private sectors.
The Ministry of Finance announced that the meeting confirmed the strong cooperation between Montenegro and the EBRD, emphasizing that the Bank is one of the key partners in implementing structural reforms, strengthening fiscal stability, and improving the investment climate.
Head of the EBRD Office for Montenegro Ramon Zakaria highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue with public institutions and the continuation of joint development initiatives.
Snezana Djurovic of EBRD stated that 20 years of partnership and 107 jointly implemented projects represent strong confirmation of mutual trust and a shared vision for Montenegro’s development.
Mutual readiness to continue close cooperation with the EBRD and further deepen a partnership of strategic importance for Montenegro’s economic development was expressed during the meeting.
The EBRD delegation included advisers from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Japan, China, and Switzerland, further confirming strong international support for Montenegro and the interest of the Bank’s key shareholders in the country’s continued development path.
