Abolition of fuel excise duties not yet proposed to the Government

Abolition of fuel excise duties not yet proposed to the Government

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic, the Ministry of Finance has not yet proposed abolishing excise taxes on fuel to the Government, which does not mean that it will not do so in the coming period, depending on the market situation.

“For the time being, we have not submitted such a proposal to the Government, but that does not mean we will not react if necessary,” Vuković told reporters after a meeting at the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).

He added that the situation is being closely monitored.

Vukovic recalled that the excise calendar and the method for setting fuel prices depend on many factors, but that it should also be taken into account that Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Sahmanovic have said there is no fuel shortage and that sufficient quantities have been secured for two to two and a half months.

“The Ministry of Finance is monitoring all market indicators, as well as Montenegro’s needs in relation to them,” Vukovc said.
