54 percent of citizens trust the government

 

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - 54 percent of Montenegrin citizens trust the Government of Montenegro, which is a significant increase compared to last autumn when 28 percent had confidence in the executive branch, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey.

 

The survey also showed that almost two-thirds of Montenegrin citizens, or 65 percent of them, trust the EU, which is 34 percentage points more than last autumn.

 

Confidence in the Montenegrin parliament, according to the spring Eurobarometer, is at 50 percent. This is also an increase compared to the autumn survey, when trust in that institution was at 27 percent.

 

 

Trust in the judiciary in Montenegro is at 49 percent, which represents an increase of 29 percentage points compared to the previous survey. According to the data, trust in the police increased by 30 percentage points, and in the army by 36 percentage points.

 

The spring Eurobarometer indicates that 63 percent of Montenegrin citizens have a positive impression of the EU, which is an increase of 23 percentage points compared to the previous survey.

 

The latest Eurobarometer shows that 71 percent of Montenegrin citizens are optimistic about the future of the EU, that 66 percent believe that membership is a good thing, and that 75 percent believe that Montenegro’s future EU membership will bring concrete benefits to the country.

 

Crime and challenges in the field of environment and climate change (11 percent each), housing and education (10 percent each), as well as challenges in the healthcare sector (7 percent) were identified as the biggest problems.

 

When it comes to EU actions in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 73 percent of Montenegrin citizens support the acceptance of refugees from Ukraine into the EU, while 63 percent of Montenegrin citizens agree with providing financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

 

Economic sanctions against Russia are supported by 57 percent of citizens, while 55 percent support financing the purchase and delivery of military equipment to Ukraine.

 

When it comes to the state of the Montenegrin economy, 58 percent of Montenegrin citizens believe that it is good, and 42 percent that it is in poor condition.

 

The survey was conducted from March 13 to 27, on a sample of 545 respondents.
